Cabinet secretary Amina Mohamed found herself at the centre of a war pitting William Ruto and Senator Gideon Moi when she presided over Maendeleo Ya Wanawake meeting that turned into a battle ground of rival groups supporting the two leaders.
The meeting held at the organisation’s head office at Maendeleo House within the city centre degenerated into a shouting match between members supporting the DP and those perceived to be leaning towards the Baringo senator as far as 2022 politics is concerned.
The troubled national chairlady, Rahab Mwikali, secretly hosted the meeting against a court order which had earlier blocked a similar gathering at Kasarani Stadium.
Women present at the meeting lead by former senator Zipporah Kittony and Maenedeleo Ya Wanawake chair Mwikali attempted to malign the deputy president in favour of Gideon but met strong resistance from DP supporters.
It is not clear how the newly appointed Sports, Culture and Heritage CS reached on a decision to attend a gathering that had been barred by the court.
Earlier in the day, police acting on the court order moved in and blocked the women from accessing Kasarani Stadium at the height of leadership war within the national women umbrella.

Maendeleo ya Wanawake Chairlady Rahab Mwikali

Weekly Citizen has established that Mwikali, known as person with excess appetite for money, is hell bent to see the enlisting names of new officials that would help her pocket from the organisations kitty.
According to our sources who attended the illegal meeting, former Senator Kittony reportedly shouted out on top of her voice, saying they did not care about the court’s decision and encouraged members present to proceed with the meeting.
Even the auditor bluntly refused to read the annual financial report citing court orders while a group of women from Nairobi, Murang’a, Kitui among others, were locked out of the meeting on suspicion that they were spying for the other faction.
And now, women from across the country are demanding for elections from ward level, subcounty, county and national level as enshrined in the constitution of the organisation.
The group has complained of unprofessional way of running the organisation and has called on the DDP, DCI and EACC to move swiftly and investigate the rot at the organisation.
