DP Ruto Sets Tongues Wagging as He Dumps Long-Time Ally Ngirici For Waiguru

Is Deputy President William Ruto betraying his long-term Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici?

This is the question on many Kenyans’ lips after watching recent political maneuvers.

Dr. Ruto appears to be sideling Ngirici in favour of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, who joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) from the Jubilee Party barely a month ago.

During his recent tour of Mt Kenya East, the DP was accompanied by Waiguru while the Woman Rep was going on with her engagements in Kiringaga.

In Embu, Waiguru taunted Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho for politicking, something that irked Ngirici.

She called out the county boss, accusing her of starting unnecessary wars in Kirinyaga yet she is married in Murang’a County.

The supremacy battle between Waiguru and Ngirici is said to have forced the DP to postpone a stopover in Kirinyaga last week after the latter protested, saying she had not been involved in planning.

The second in command also raised eyebrows today, November 23, when he hosted Laikipia Woman Rep Cate Waruguru at his official Karen residence in Nairobi. Waruguru rejoined UDA.

The DP had invited several female politicians, who support him, to receive the parliamentarian in the wheelbarrow party.

Some of the invitees included Waiguru, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and Nyeri Woman Rep Rahab Mukami.

This set tongues wagging, with some Kenyans opining that the Deputy President is deliberately sideling Ngirici.

The two Kirinyaga politicians are expected to square it out for the UDA ticket to run for governor.

Ngirici is among the pioneers of UDA.
