Deputy President William Ruto Tuesday morning chaired a joint meeting of the UDA National Executive Committee  (NEC) and National Elections Board (NEB) at his Karen office.

The Party leader congratulated the newly inaugurated NEB and reminded them of the heavy task ahead of conducting free and fair nominations.

The Party leader asked the NEC and NEB to work closely to ensure that party members and aspirants are given their democratic right by treating all fairly.

The NEB members who were formally inaugurated are Eng.  Anthony Mwaura, Salome Beacco, Aurelia Rono, Ummi Bashir, Matiko Chacha, Raphael Chimera and Halake Dida.

The meeting was also attended by Party Chairman Johnson Muthama, Secretary General Veronica Maina and Executive Director Odanga Pessa.

DP Ruto had earlier met leaders from Laikipia North Constituency led by the Woman Representative Cate Waruguru.

He defended the United Democratic Alliance’s move to work with ANC, Ford Kenya and other political formations saying it will unite, transform and tackle political conman-ship in Kenya.

“Many people are being funded to set up political parties so that Kenyans are divided politically. That is why there is a whole project to gather politicians from the former Western Province to condemn Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula,” he said.

Dr Ruto said their coming together will crush the tribal agenda driven by a section of leaders as Mr Mudavadi and Wetang’ula are not tribal but national leaders with a focus on making Kenya move forward.

Other leaders present were Governor Josphat Nanok, MPs Kimani Ichung’wah (Kikuyu) and Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira).
