The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has directed the Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai to launch investigations into remarks attributed to Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyoka.
Haji noted that Onyonka needs to be probed in respect to a video clip that has been circulating on social media where he appeared to make remarks that can amount to hate speech.
“The alleged remarks captured in the video clip may be contrary to Article 33(2) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, which provides that the right of freedom of expression does not extend to – propaganda for war, incitement to violence, hate speech or advocacy for hatred,”
The move comes after a similar directive was issued in regards to remarks made by Meru Senator Mithika Linturi.
