DPP TO CALL THIRTEEN WITNESSES AGAINST DIRECTORS OF DISTILLER.

Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji will call 13 witnesses to testify against two directors of Patiala Distillers limited, who are charged with selling goods with fake stamps.

Appearing before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Nazushi, the prosecution said it will be calling the 13 witnesses and experts to testify against Francis Kiambi Matanka Kiriiro and his wife Mary Waigwe Muthoni.

The duo are facing charges of selling excisable goods affixed with counterfeit stamps. Kenya Revenue Authority enforcement officers testified against the couple today and were put to task by the defence team on how they concluded the stamps were fake.

The prosecution told the court that on June 28 and on July 5 this year, being directors of spirit maker, the duo were found to have sold to Nice Link dealers limited a wines and spirit shop situated along Mwiki road, excisable goods affixed counterfeit stamps.

It is alleged that the company sold 178 bottles of blue Ice Vodka of 250ml each with.

The couple are out on a cash bail of Sh500,000.
