Nominated Senators Mary Senata (who was competing against Ledama) and Beatrice Kwamboka got into a fistfight following his election.
The incident was supposedly stirred by Deputy Majority Whip Farhiya Ali’s dispute over the election and allegedly demanded its postponement.
Ali had been accused of forging the Signature of Senator Milicent Omanga to appear that she supported Senator when she was in support of Ledama.

Nominated Senator Beatrice Kwamboka.
“You can not tell me anything, I am Raila Odinga’s person and I am in the leadership, I will deal with you,” stated Kwamboka during the fistfight.
In the unprecedented drama, the two are said to have two tore each other’s clothes while their colleagues watched.
Ledama lamented over what he described as disappointment in the chaos that he said often erupts after he gets elected to various Senate committees leaderships.
“How comes I have troubles in every committee I am elected to lead. I was elected the chair of CPAIC (County Public Accounts and Investment Committee), I was kicked out and now vice-chair of the health committee, the powers that be are against me,” he is quoted in the People Daily.

The Narok Senator had agreed to step down from the CPAIC committee position after holding a private meeting with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. He had sought to lead the committee but fell out favour of Senate Majority Leader James Orengo and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
Odinga posted on his Facebook page confirming the deal between the party and the legislator.
“Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina has this morning agreed to withdraw the case he had filed against ODM over the Senate Public Accounts Committee chairmanship, surrendered the seat and apologised. In return, I have instructed the party to reverse the decision to de-whip the Senator,” he stated.
“I was elected to chair the Senate County Public Accounts and Investment Committee (CPAIC) and was denied, now I have been elected vice-chair Health Committee and now they are trying to frustrate me,” lamented Ledama.
