Drama as Video Emerges of Maraga’s Alleged Affair With a Judge He Wants Uhuru To Appoint

It has been a drama filled weekend on Twitter as Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi asked the giant social media telco – Twitter to disable the account of Chief Justice David Maraga. 

This is after he posted a video maligning him and other senior members of the Judiciary, as well as the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

The video whose source remains anonymous, claims Maraga has been pushing President Uhuru Kenyatta to appoint the 41 new judges proposed by JSC because he had romantic relationship with one of the nominee.

The recording quotes Lady Justice Pauline Nyamweya, the presiding judge of the judicial review division.

“Judge Nyamweya has been romantically involved with CJ Maraga since late 2017 and even shared a number of intimate moments during the 2018 annual judges colloquium as recorded as CJ Maraga’s hotel room at Serena Hotel,” it claims.

SC Abdullahi noted the recording was defamatory and asked Twitter to suspend Maraga’s account because he was amplifying the enemy’s message.

“For his own good, that of the judiciary…and the judges scandalized in this vile video Twitter should disable CJ Maraga’s account…immediately,” he tweeted on Sunday night.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, who is a lawyer, asked the CJ to pull down the videos saying posting them would encourage more of them, since the source knows that the target responds.

However, exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna said there was nothing wrong with the CJ posting the defamatory videos since he exposed and shamed people behind them.

“He must share it to expose and shame it. Some of you prefer that impunity is left unexposed. That’s silly!” Miguna said.
