Kenyans who love gossip have taken to social media to protest the unceremonial disappearance of blogger Edgar Obare’s Instagram page.

The account was active yesterday, but today it is cannot be assessed, leaving many “tea” lovers disappointed.

It is not clear whether the page was reported as spam or someone hacked it.

Through his blog account, Obare said the page was deactivated under unclear circumstances.

“My main account has been deactivated, working to get it restored,” he said.

He also suggested that his latest expose on how money laundering works may have irked some people and he is not shocked his account has disappeared.

“Meanwhile, we already prepared for such outcomes and I can also be posting here,” he said.

The digital journalist has caused a national uproar on social media last week after exposing the politicians and businessmen behind the infamous “wash wash” network.

So daring he was that he mentioned names of people feared so much in society.

Obare detailed how celebrities were being used by money-launders to dirt-free ill-gotten wealth.

Some of the celebrities he listed, including comedian Jalang’o and Nairobi-based businessman Rodgers Kipembe, have denied any involvement in the racket.

“Never did I in my life thought that someone will ever question my integrity. I work so hard for my money,” he said.

For his part,t Kipembe, who is also a politician, said: “You will vote money-launders. The solution is in your hands. Reject overnight tycoons.”

Before his account was deactivated, Obare had promised to reveal how “wash wash” money was funding some of the big churches in Nairobi.
