Embattled Governor Sang forces two ministers to resign – Weekly Citizen

Nandi governor Stephen Sang currently feeling the heat on ground forced two county ministers to resign or face the sack.

The minister Sang forced to resign are Hillary Koech (transport) and Stanley Baliach (lands).

Sources say Sang summoned the two to a private meeting and told them either to resign or be sacked. At one time an adamant Koech threatened Sang that he would reveal scandals the governor has been forcing him to do as his docket but Sang could not hear of it.

Instead Sang told him to resign and go ahead to spill the beans. Upon discovering the governor was not ready to be compromised or giving in, Koech decided to resign.

Baliach of lands is said to have openly wept as Sang told him to resign. Baliach was replaced by Philemon Bureti while Dorice Rono took over from Koech at the plum transport.

The only executive Sang sacked was Valentine Chumo the education executive linked to Sh200 million scandals. Grace Sugut is now holding education docket. Daniel Sang reinstatement as education chief officer has not been received well by many. He was directly linked to Sh200 million scandal.

New faces in chief officer, offices are Solomon Maangira (lands), Sally Kemboi (water) and Paul Lagat (health). The reshuffle comes after senate public accounts committee vowed to invite the Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission to probe Sang over a Sh17 million expenditure meant for construction of Early Childhood Centres.

Sang blames Senator Samsom Cherargei who wants to run for governorship 2022 for engagimg in witchhunt using the senate.

The committee raised concern after the county failed to provide proper financial records detailing its expenditure.

Led by Kirinyaga senator Charles Kibiru, the committee put the county boss to task to explain how the amount had been spent.

The team was concerned by the records presented before it, with some committee members claiming that failure to provide proper financials records raised suspicions as to how the money was used.

Kisii senator Sam Ongeri, who was part of the committee, accused the governor and his administration of laxity in service delivery.

On her part, Isiolo woman representative Fatuma Dullo said the lack of records is a show that the amount is likely to have been used on other projects.

Sang link to corruption saw Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto involve in a drama at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Uhuru had arrived from Japan where he attended an international conference. He was received at the airport by Ruto.

Others present were chief of Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe, Service Commanders, IG Hillary Mutyambai and Sang.

At the airport, photographers who took shots were reportedly ordered to delete photos, a move that caught Governor Sang by surprise. Uhuru does not want to be associated with the corrupt hence his current bad blood relationship with Ruto.
