Ex-Citizen TV Journalist Hussein Mohammed Joins UDA in New Role

Former Citizen TV news anchor Hussein Mohammed has been appointed Head of Communication in Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential campaign.

The news of Hussein’s appointment was made public on Monday 24th January by DP Ruto who welcomed him to the hustler team ahead of the 9th August election.

“Hussein Mohammed, renowned TV journalist, has been appointed Head of Communications in the William Ruto Presidential Campaign. Welcome to the Hustler team,” DP Ruto said in a tweet.

Reacting to the appointment, Hussein said: “Asante Your Excellency! I share with the hustler story and so do majority of Kenyans. Nothing gives me more pleasure than being part of this team that is driving a paradigm shift in our politics and ultimately, governance! From top-down, to bottom-up!”

Before joining the United Democratic Alliance, Hussein hosted News Night on Citizen TV where he mostly interviewed politicians.

He also hosted another show dubbed The Big Question alongside former news anchor Janet Mbugua. Mohammed was awarded ‘Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear, MBS in 2019 by President Uhuru Kenyatta for his distinguished service to the nation.

He resigned from Citizen TV in October 2019 after a 10-year stint.
