Former Tusker Project Fame star Alvan Gatitu has narrated how his livelihood was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The popular Tik Tok star, known for his hilarious broken English comical videos, has shown that the smile he had been putting on was him trying to forget the problems in his life.
In a candid eight minutes video shared on his Facebook page on Sunday, June 5, Alvan revealed he was forced to sleep out in the cold the previous night after he failed to clear his rent arrears.
“Please note as this is happening, my water and electricity supply had been cut for one and a half weeks. Just trying to make ends meet, the business was not working,” Alvan said.
The singer said he tried contacting his friends who declined to host him but one of the guards to his friend allowed him to sleep in his guard booth.
Alvan reached out to his church who sent him KSh 2000 to find a place he could sleep and during his troubles he had to pay half of the money for Boda Boda as it was past curfew.
He said he was trying to prove that the fuss behind celebrities was just a mask that hid a lot of suffering inside.
“I’m just here to remove the whole celebrity lie. You can trend for months and still have nothing going for you. You can be popular but still struggling and I’m here to remove the same, lets not pretend,” he said.
The artiste was thankful to the guard and said he would remember him for a long time.
“I don’t know how COVID-19 has affected you, but this is my story and am not ashamed of it. There comes a time when everything you’ve worked for blows up in your face. When you can your friends and none can help you,” Alvan added amidst tears.
