Ex-Wives of Mzee Jackson Kibor Pay Glowing Tributes: ‘He Was Disciplining Us’

The three widows of astute businessman Mzee Jackson Kibor have said they are devasted with the death of their husband.

Mzee Kibor succumbed to Covid-19 complications at St Luke’s Hospital in Eldoret. He contracted the virus in October 2020 and has been in and out of hospital since then. He was 88.

Before he got Covid-19, he had never been admitted to hospital and would even walk for long distances.

Although he had frequent run-ins with his spouses, they described him as the most ideal man in their lives.

His third wife, Naomi, whom he divorced years ago, revealed that he recently called his ex-wives for a meeting and asked for forgiveness.

“He was very jovial during the meeting,” she said at the late tycoon’s Kabenes home in Uasin Gishu.

She said Mzee told them the divorces were meant to instill discipline in them.

“He did everything out of love. We will never forget the moments we shared with him,” Naomi said.

His fourth wife, Yunita remarked that the death of the Kanu-era politician was a big loss to the family.

In the last decade of his life, Kibor, who loved the finer things in life, was embroiled in controversy after divorcing his second and third wives and marrying a younger and hotter woman, who qualified to be his daughter.

After settling down with Yunita, he was criticised by elders for being a bad role model to his children and the younger general.

“I was happy the courts allowed me to part with the two women because they had become a burden in my life. I am happier and even younger,” he said, noting that Yunita would be his last wife.

Some of his sons had also taken him to court, demanding a share of his vast estate valued at Ksh6 billion.

In addition, he was the chair of the imaginary Men’s Conference which takes place on Valentine’s Day.

Men respected him so much, saying that he was a role model for the boy child.

In the few times he addressed men’s gatherings, Mzee Kibor insisted that a man takes his place in society and should never allow a woman to control or manipulate him.
