The National Potato Council of Kenya is blaming the informal nature of the potato value chain for the challenges faced by farmers in supplying multinational fast food chains. National Potato Council of Kenya CEO Wachira Kaguongo says even though the Makies potato seed variety demanded by multinational fast food chains is available in Kenya, previous talks with the franchises to contract local farmers to supply the potatoes have been unsuccessful.
