FKF Caretaker Committee Appoint New Harambee Starlets Coach

Football Kenya Federation, FKF Caretaker Committee has appointed Alex Alumira as the new Harambee Starlets coach following a recruitment exercise.

The former Vihiga Queens and Tiger Queens of Tanzania tactician succeeds Charles Okere who was appointed in April last year.

According to Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Caretaker Committee chairman and retired judge Aaron Ringera, Alumira’s contract runs until the end of the mandate of the FKF Committee.

“It is a great honor and I look forward to guiding this team to the best of my ability, and with the full support of the FKF CC, we shall guide this team to Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualification,” said Alumira.

“I have a responsibility to develop a philosophy for the women’s national football team and I will liaise with coaches to ensure that there is an elaborate plan for women’s football, a plan for posterity.”

Alumira will be assisted by Benter Achieng and Ann Aluoch with Martha Karimi managing the team.

Harambee Starlets are preparing for their Africa Women’s Cup of Nations match against rivals Uganda Crested Cranes.

Kenya will host the first leg of the tournament which is scheduled for 14th February before travelling across the border on 23rd February to play Uganda.

The team will report to camp on Tuesday, 25th January.
