Former Water PS Wairagu wa Maai, has picked Gatanga CDF manager Evanson Muiyuro as his Gubernatorial running mate for the August election.

Wairagu said Muiyuro has served diligently as the Chairman of Gatanga NG-CDF, for the past five years and has what it takes to be the next Deputy Governor of Murang’a.

“I have picked someone who I am sure will support my Administration and help me achieve the development goals i have for Murang’a County,” He stated.

Wairagu is the only aspirant who has picked a male running mate after the three other candidates picked women to deputize them.

Jubilee Party candidate Jamleck Kamau picked Dr. Naomi Kagone, UDA candidate Irungu Kang’ata settled on Dr. Winne Njeri while Irungu Nyakera opted for Catherine Mugo.

Wairagu said picking a male candidate will not stop him from ensuring gender rule is realized in his Administration.

“More than 30 percent of jobs in the County will go to women. The youth will also take a big part in my Administration. I plead with the people of Murang’a to support us so that we can bring the much needed positive change in our County,” Wairagu said.

He pledged to establish a Ksh 100 million youth fund, to help young people from the County to start income-generating projects if elected.

“In my manifesto, I have factored a youth fund programme, which will help in creating jobs for hundreds of jobless young people,” he said.

Other aspirants who are expected to name their running mate, Monday, include Joshua Toro, Joseph Mbai and Dr. Moses Mwangi.

Muiyuro, a prominent businessman in the region welcomed the gesture saying he will support Wairagu’s manifesto to ensure better service delivery for people of Murang’a.

“I will cooperate and work with Wairagu to ensure the people of this County get better services in all sectors,” He said.
