Ex Switch TV news anchor David Kagina has joined Mediamax owned station K24.
The Moi University Alumnus announced this grand career milestone on his socials, expressing gratitude and optimism to be part of one of the biggest media brands in Kenya.
“Some personal news here. With the new month comes new beginnings! I am glad to start my new role as a journalist at K24 TV. The forest may be different, but the hunt is still the same,” he stated.
At Switch TV, Kagina hosted Swahili news bulletins on technology, education, crime, politics, business, and agriculture, which aired weekly.
Kagina was first enlisted at the Red Cross-owned station as an intern in August 2019, for one year, before his employment as a full-time journalist, rising through ranks to become a lead editorial producer – organising and checking all content before publication to ensure they provide the most impact or views.
He served in the station for two years before it announced restructuring from on-air broadcast to digital broadcast through Chairman Sahil Shah in December 2021.
“In character with our core philosophy of being responsive to the needs of the youth and with the ambition to become the go-to media platform for the emerging generation, Switch Media has made a conscious decision to build a new strategy around being digital-first,”
“In view of this, Switch Media will be launching new and exciting services and products in this expanding digital space. We hope to grow this brand together with the technology that comes with it. We assure our stakeholders of our continued presence and support, “Shah stated.
The announcement followed a massive lay-off of its journalists, including famed newsreader Fredrick Muitiriri who recently joined TV 47.
