Defending champions Gor Mahia defeated AFC Leopards 4-1 on penalties in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup final staged at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, on Sunday, 4th July.
After the game ended in a goalless draw in the full 90 minutes, the winner had to be determined through penalty shootouts.
Gor Mahia goalkeeper Gad Mathews denied Ingwe the victory after stopping penalties taken by AFC Leopards captain Isaac Kipyegon and Said Tsuma.
Sydney Ochieng, Kenneth Muguna, Clifton Miheso, and Samuel Onyango scored for K’Ogalo while Washington Munene scored the only goal for Ingwe.
With the win, Gor Mahia will now represent Kenya in the 2021/22 Caf Confederation Cup tournament.
Gor Mahia were feted with a trophy and Ksh2 million for the win as Leopards pocketed Ksh1 million as runners-up.
Meanwhile, Gor Mahia midfielder Muguna and AFC Leopards keeper John Oyemba won individual awards for their outstanding performances in the tournament.
Muguna was named as the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament with Oyemba winning the best keeper award after keeping five clean sheets in the entire showpiece.
Bandari FC forward Benjamin Mosha won the Golden Boot award for being the top scorer by netting five goals.
