Governor Goes Undercover at Hospital, Nabs Lazy And Arrogant Nurses

Following patients’ concerns that Chuka Referral Hospital was offering poor services, Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki took it upon himself to investigate the matter.

Instead of sending his men to find out the truth, the county boss decided to personally probe the matter.

In disguise, Njuki visited the hospital on Thursday, October 21.

He checked into the facility as an ordinary patient.

The governor was dressed and casually and would have mistaken for a poor sick man. To conceal his identity completely, he wore a hat and a blue mask.

He went into the patients’ waiting area and observed everything that was going on for hours.

Much to his surprise, all that he had been told was true.
He watched as patients suffered at the hands of the medics who should be compassionate and caring.

Some nurses were chatting on their phones while others were addressing patients with arrogance.

After hours of watching, he finally revealed his true identity, and nurses could not believe what they were seeing.

He rebuked the medics and wondered why they were so heartless.
As he lectured the health workers, everything changed, as they pretended that they were serious about their duties and the governor’s eyes lied to him.

It is, however, not clear the actions that will be taken against the lazy nurses.

Nevertheless, Kenyans were impressed with how the governor conducted himself to restore sanity in his county’s healthcare system.

Medical negligence in different public hospitals has been a major issue in the country.

In June this year, a woman died at the Teaching and Referral Hospital while waiting to be attended to.

Shockingly, staff at the hospital were holding a birthday party for a colleague as she tried to get their attention in vain.
