Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu was on Wednesday afternoon, 28th July, discharged from the Nairobi Hospital where she had been admitted after contracting Covid-19.

Taking to her social media platforms on Wednesday, 28th July, the county boss thanked God for saving her life.

Governor Ngilu lauded doctors in Kitui and Nairobi for taking care of her. She also thanked Kenyans for the messages of love and quick recovery wishes.

“I’m leaving hospital, thanks to God for restoring my health. I also thank doctors and other medical personnel in both Kitui and Nairobi for excellent care. Thank you all for your overwhelming messages of love and wishes of quick recovery,” Governor Ngilu said in a tweet.

Ngilu’s Covid-19 status was made public on Tuesday, 27th by her Machakos counterpart, Dr Alfred Mutua, who spoke in Murang’a County during the Skiza thanksgiving ceremony for central artistes hosted by Royal Media Services owner SK Macharia.

Mutua said that Ngilu had asked him to inform the public that she had contracted the virus.

“I first want to bring greetings from our sister Ngilu, who could not be with us. She asked me to inform you she has Covid-19 and is admitted so please let us take care,” he said.

Ngilu was one of the guests expected at the event, which was graced by top political leaders, including ODM boss Raila Odinga, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria, and BBI Secretariat co-chair Dennis Waweru.

Ngilu was last seen in public on 21st July when she hosted Garissa County Governor Ali Korane at her office in Kitui where they discussed matters of mutual interest to the two counties.
