The national team Harambee Starlets goalkeeper Lilian Awuor has penned to paper a three-year deal with French Division One side Soyaux Women.

The 22 year old custodian for Kenya women premier league giants Vihiga Queens is one of the few decorated women footballers to have won record trophies even before reaching their prime.

The shot-stopper has three Kenya Women’s Premier League titles to her name while her success in the CAF Champions League Cecafa qualifiers helped Kenya qualify for cthe inaugural continental event in Egypt in November.

The Nyakach Girls alumnus thrives on discipline having played in the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifiers where Kenya was eliminated after losing to Uganda.

In 2021, Awuor led Harambee Starlets in their 2022 Awcon qualifier against South Sudan as Kenya won 15-1 on aggregate in their first round of matches.

Since 2020, almost 10 female football players have signed for European clubs among them Esse Akida (FC PAOK Thessaloniki), Dorcas Shikobe (Lakatamia FC) and Mwanahalima Adam (Hakkarigucu Spor).
