England captain Harry Kane has confirmed that he is staying at Tottenham Hotspur after he was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City.
The 28-year-old striker confirmed his decision to stay at Spurs on Wednesday, 25th August through his social media accounts.
“It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I’ve had in the last few weeks,” Kane said in a tweet.
“I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100 per cent focused on helping the team achieve success.”
Kane missed his side’s 1-0 victory over City on the opening weekend of the English Premier League season after returning late to pre-season training.
He played his first game of the season on Sunday, coming on as a substitute in the 1-0 win over Wolves.
Apart from Manchester City, Real Madrid and Manchester United were among the clubs interested in signing the striker.
Kane who is the second top goal scorer in Tottenham’s history with 221 is yet to win a major trophy at the club or international level.
The Englishman had three years left on his six-year contract signed in 2018.
