The Women In Film Awards (WIFA) is back for the third time around in a bid to celebrate female talent in the film industry. Interestingly, this year’s theme of the awards is ‘Nevertheless she persisted’. Why? In order to salute women of character, courage and commitment.

WIFA provides a platform to honour outstanding women filmmakers who have contributed to the growth of the film industry by producing films of high quality. The annual awards have been created to acknowledge women filmmakers in many different categories: From Directors, Writers, Producers, Cinematographers, Editors and Sound Designers and other women who work within all areas of film production. Not only do the awards act as a celebration, but also as a linkage of women filmmakers in Kenya to the larger market for film i.e. Distributors (online, mobile, TV and local retail market) and consumers/viewers.

Some of the notable personality up for awards the year are Catherine Wamuyu, Catherine Kamau, Jacky Matubia,Sanaipei Tande, Celestine Ndinda, among others. Check out the full list below:

The winners will be selected through public voting that will continue till the 15th of February.
