The new series is a prequel to the global phenomenon, ‘Game Of Thrones’.
HBO has finally announced the premiere date for their new series, House Of The Dragon, a prequel to the massive hit series Game of Thrones (GoT). The fantasy series will begin streaming on August 21 this year.
The prequel set 200 years before the events of the original series, follows House Targaryen, the blonde, dragon-riding clan from which Khaleesi – Daenerys Targaryen, descended. According to GoT legend, as fans of the show will remember, the Targaryen bloodline carries insanity which resulted at one point in a civil war called the “Dance of the Dragons” which the sequel will explore.
Starring Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans and many more including CGI dragons), House Of The Dragon forms its storyline from the George R. R. Martin book Fire & Blood. In a March blog post, the author of the iconic book series wrote, “what I have seen, I have loved.”
Fans of GoT will also be happy to learn that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, are not involved in House of the Dragon.
