Former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion has taken a swipe at former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for not protecting him despite his influence in the government.
He claimed that he would still be the KNUT boss had Raila endeavored to protect him.
Sossion lamented that the Orange Democratic Movement party leader did not intervene to shield him from protected battles with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
“Raila Odinga betrayed me by allowing the government he had joined to interfere with teachers’ union,” stated Sossion, during the burial of Kebeneti Secondary School principal Joel Mutai on Thursday, in Belgut, Kericho County.

“That is why I joined UDA and I am now supporting Deputy President William Ruto for the presidency,” Sossion, who resigned as KNUT boss in June 2021 explained his fallout with Raila.
The ODM Nominated MP of Parliament was hopeful that Ruto will clinch victory on August 9, and swiftly to act laws passed by Uhuru and Raila which he claimed were retrogressive.
Sossion further raised concerns with Uhuru’s government, lamenting that it was repressive and stifled civil society groups.
“Civil societies and unions are dead. No one is speaking on behalf of Kenyans. They now want to finish political parties through the Political Parties Amendment Bill,” Sossion ranted referring to the Bill that was passed at the National Assembly, seeking to allow the formation of coalition parties.
Prior to and after his resignation as KNUT boss, Sossion has constantly been embroiled in a public war of words with Education CS George Magoha over the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
While speaking in Belgut, the lawmaker once again faulted the CBC stating, “A good curriculum must be understood by teachers, learners, and parents as well. It must be exciting and inspiring. It cannot be frustrating.”
Sossion announced that he will vie for the Senate seat in Bomet in the upcoming August General Election.
