Huduma centres within Nairobi are set to be closed temporarily for fumigation in bid to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
In a statement on Tuesday, July 14, the Ministry of Public Service and Gender said the closure would happen on different dates across various Huduma centres.
“Taking in to account the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Nairobi in the past week and the high number of customer traffic we are experiencing we will be temporarily closing Nairobi Huduma centre for fumigation, We will start with Huduma Centre GPO on July 14,”part of the statement read.
The Public Service Commission has at the same time scaled down operations to minimise the spread of the disease after 10 of its employees tested positive for the virus.
Acting Health director-general Patrick Amoth said the department would take all the necessary measures to contain the respiratory illness from spreading further.
“We will take measures in government institutions to ensure that we limit further spread of the virus,” Amoth said.
