‘I Helped President Uhuru Register as a Voter, Win Elections,’ Says Linturi

Meru Senator Mithika Linturi has revealed that he was among the ‘main men’ that helped President Uhuru Kenyatta clinch the Presidency in 2013.

The lawmaker further narrated how they traveled with President Uhuru to his rural place in Icaweri, Gatundu South, where they helped him register as a voter.

“Whatever Duale said is the truth, we know the president. We were there, we took him there, we pushed him there. I led a group of five people, we even took him to register to vote,” Linturi said in an interview with a local TV station.

“We sat the whole day, organizing, Kabogo and I, and took him to register to vote, in Icaweri,” he added.

The exceptional Senator recalled when some leaders from the National Alliance Party (TNA) had recommended Musalia Mudavadi as an ideal candidate to vie for Presidency in 2013 General Elections, and they had to support President Uhuru and cushioned him from being backed out of the race to the State House.

“I was the one, together with William Kabogo, Bahari Ali, Naomi Shaban, and Walter Nyambati who stopped him from handing over to Mudavadi,” the lawmaker revealed.

Linturi continued to reveal that he was among the top delegates that went ahead to draft Jubilee’s manifesto after convincing DP Ruto to form Jubilee Coalition.

This follows after President Uhuru Kenyatta advised Kenyans to vote for people who will continue with his legacy, he claimed that UDA allied politicians where Deputy President William Ruto belongs were people of questionable integrity.

Garissa lawmaker Aden Duale responded by asking the President to withdraw his statement as it meant demeanor to voters who elected him and the Deputy President in handy.

“You are telling us the eight million Jubilee supporters in your own leading are full of conmen and crooks and thieves. That is an insult to the Jubilee family and your supporters,” stated Duale.
