“I shall not be bullied” Waiguru tells off MCAs plotting impeachment

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has told off a section of Members of the County Assembly who are plotting to impeach her terming the motion as ill-informed and ill-timed.

The MCAs have accused Waiguru of gross violation of the Constitution, abuse of office and gross misconduct.

“The issues raised in the motion are baseless, and a waste of valuable time that would be better spent handling the serious impacting the County, including the Covid-19 crisis,” said Waguru.

“Their intent is merely to bully me to achieve nefarious and personalized political objectives,” she added.

Waiguru noted that she obtained a court order from High Court stopping any proceedings by the Assembly on the impeachment motion until issues that she raised with the court were determined.

“These matters remain undetermined and an injunction remains in place,” Waiguru said.

The Kirinyaga County boss cautioned the MCAs by telling them that they are not above the law by ignoring court orders.

“If the Assembly does proceed in violation of the subsisting Court Orders, I shall seek such orders for contempt against the Speaker and all participating members as are available under the law,” said Waiguru.
