Famous broadcast media personality Maina Kageni has revealed that he was a victim of body shaming because when he was growing up, he was a fat kid.
Body shaming is the action of humiliating someone with negative commentaries based on their body shape or size.
Kageni says that the saddest part was when his fellow students used the sharp compass available in the mathematical sets to prick him just to see if he will burst.
“Be sensitive. I was a big, kids used to prick me up using a compass to see if I would burst.
People take stress differently. Some take it as a joke laugh about it and forget, others can take it a bit seriously.
Be kind and sensitive towards other people. Let’s learn to be comfortable in our own skin, some are not.” Kageni, Classic 105 host opened up.
Giving his sentiments on the sensitive topic, his co-host Daniel Ndambuki famously known as Churchill advised people to appreciate their bodies as it is positive for mental health and attitude. Acceptance will help an individual navigate through life easily.
“I have been called darkness before, and I did not get mad. Don’t take everything personally.
If someone calls you fat just tell them God has blessed you with enough food. There are skinny people wakonde kama kiberiti how have they helped us?
Acha kuvaa corset ukifika kwa nyumba nyama zinaanguka ukiiifungua, why kill yourself? Kaa na hizo nyama extra Mungu amaekupea mwishowe utazirudisha.”
Mwalimu added, “If una tumbo kama ya Michelin tires go and look for a job at that company. If you have pimples go and find a job with a face cleansing company.
Do you know how many times Kiwi Company and Eveready have looked for me for so many years to help them advertise them?” Mwalimu joked.
