The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has cleared Roots Party Presidential aspirant Professor George Wajackoyah to run for the presidency in the August polls after meeting all the requirements.
According to the IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukatii, Prof Wajackoyah has acquired the minimum number of supporters required to contest in the general election.
“We can now confirm that you have met the minimum requirements…we have accepted your nomination as a Presidential candidate for the 2022 General Election…congratulations,” said Chebukati.
Wajackoyah’s presidential papers were rejected last week by the Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission after failing to raise the requisite 2,000 signatures per county in at least 24 counties.
IEBC, however, gave Prof Wajackoyah until Thursday, 2nd June to get his house in order before presenting his papers again.
Speaking after the clearance process Prof Wajackoyah said he will now move to popularise his Presidential bid across the country.
