Inside Rachael Shebesh’s Plan To Take Control Of City Hall

Rachael Shebesh is slowly working her way into the apex of Nairobi’s seat of power, means, and methods notwithstanding.

The former Nairobi County Woman Representative was dislodged by Esther Passaris in the 2017 polls and handed a lifeline by being appointed to the cabinet as a CAS but her heart and mind are focused on taking charge of City Hall’s strings of power and influence, a threat to the city’s funds.

Luckily for her, the current predicaments of the besieged Governor Mike Sonko make it easy for her to find her way through the dark alleys right into the city’s nerve center.

As reliable sources have confirmed, Shebesh is behind the recent controversial nomination of Ann Mwenda to be Sonko’s Deputy Governor.

The sly Shebesh is banking on the high chances that Sonko’s corruption cases and those of abuse of office will drag for years and her ‘project Anne Mwenda’ will be in charge of the county for the remainder of the Sonko-Igathe term.

Actually, Shebesh has taken a keen interest in Mwenda’s nomination that apart from being the first senior official to publicly congratulate her skewed nomination, she has taken a personal initiative to lobby for her acceptance within the Jubilee Party power ranks and in the county assembly.

In the county assembly, Shebesh has Maringo Hamza MCA Mark Ndung’u, alleged to be in a romantic relationship with her, to do her bidding and is lobbying his colleagues and fishing out money siphoned from the Youth Ministry where Shebesh serves as CAS.

And Mark Ndung’u is very obedient and protective of his Queen Shebesh, even if it means getting rowdy and physical.

At one point, Mark almost went physical with the Governor for pulling Shebesh aside for a private talk in a separate room away from his presence.

Shebesh counts on MCA Mark to stamp authority and win the support of the County Assembly as she engages in frequent trips between Jubilee Headquarters and Mua Hills where Sonko has relocated to, as she seeks to have her puppet Anita take charge of the city.

Shebesh’s end-game?

Ann Mwenda is completely blank and clueless on the deep running of the County and that’s where Shebesh comes in.

Actually, Mwenda who’s highest position was a security operator at Wilson Airport will just be reading statements handed to her by the cunning Shebesh and signing off county cheques and contracts from Shebesh’s hands.

Out goes Sonko and in comes Rachael Shebesh.
