Insurers launch APP to ease motor claims process for customers

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 22 – The Association of Kenya Insurers has launched a Claims Registration Application (CRA) that will ease the process of reporting motor insurance claims for customers.

Motor insurance customers can download the AKI CRA App which will require registration of the insured customer, the vehicle, and any other driver of the vehicle. 

In the event of an accident or if someone witnesses an accident, the Application allows one to upload images and videos of the accident. The App also allows one to upload documents such as a police abstract, ID, and driving license.

The App can geo-locate the accident scene, and provide contacts of the nearest ambulance, hospital, or towing services and notify the next of Kin about the accident.

AKI Chief Executive Officer  (CEO) Tom Gichuhi said the application was created to make the process of reporting a motor insurance claim more convenient.

“Customers can upload documents and images electronically instead of visiting the insurance company. Insurance companies on the other hand will receive claim information faster and the claims process can be initiated immediately”  

Customers without a smartphone can use the shortcode *352# and select the option ‘Report a Claim’ and follow the prompts.
