ODM Lang’ata parliamentary candidate Felix Odiwour alias Jalang’o’s farmhand has threatened to sue Sauti Sol member band member Bien Baraza for allegedly using his image without his consent.

While mocking ODM leader Raila Odinga’s supporters who were unsubscribing from the group’s YouTube channel following a tussle over the use of the band’s song, Extravaganza, at an ODM function without permission, Bien used a meme.

The photo in the meme is that of Morris Litiema.

Litiema took the photo in 2017, looking hopeless, as he did not have a job then.

He said he had been a subscriber to Sauti Sol;s YouTube channel for more than five years.

“When I see that photo, I’m emotionally tortured. It reminds me of the time when I was going through so much,” he said in a video that was captured by his boss, Jalang’o.

He is now demanding an apology and compensation.

“I know you (Jalang’o) have Bien’s phone number and you should share it with me. I want an apology and Ksh5 million,” he said.

Sauti Sol picked up a fight with Raila’s supporters at the beginning of the week when their song, Extravaganza was played during the unveiling of Martha Karua as the Azimio la Umoja presidential election running mate.

They threatened to sue the former Prime Minister for using their song without permission.

Raila has reportedly reached out to the music group, as he wants an out-of-court settlement.

A section of Raila’s supporters unsubscribed from Sauti Sol’s channel and vowed never to listen to songs by the four-member band.

Bien dismissed this, saying that anyone who wants to unsubscribe is free to do so.
