NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 3 – Jumia on Wednesday launched the Black Friday campaign which for the first time will have mind-blowing deals including five cows which will retail for only Ksh 100.
The Friesian cows will be up for grabs from November 5 at midnight on a first-come basis and they would be delivered to the winner’s doorstep.
Speaking during the launch, Jumia Kenya Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sam Chappate revealed that the cows were part of their campaign to reach out to people living in both urban and rural areas and make them familiar with the app.
“Black Friday is our biggest event of the year. Every year we try to bring something new and exciting for our customers – which helps bring new customers into online shopping and build the category,” said Chappate.
“In the past, we have offered some lucky customers Kuku for Ksh.100 and goats for Ksh.1000, and now for the first time mind-blowing deals will include 5 cows retailing for only Ksh.100 during the campaign launch on 4th November at midnight,” he added.
He further revealed that this year’s Black Friday would entail over a million deals and collaborations with various brands such as Equity Bank, Xiaomi, L’oreal (Garnier), Harpic, Johnnie Walker, Hisense, Adidas among others.
“This event is profitable to SMEs (Small and medium-sized enterprises) and would enable to make a lot of sales and exposure during this month. It is also a big sales moment for brands where e-commerce becomes a big part of their sales,” he said.
Additionally during this month customers would have opportunities to win trips and vouchers, all by downloading the app and being on the lookout for offers. They would also enjoy giveaways, flash sales and free delivery from top brands.
Jumia Black Friday has over the years been widely seen to help digitize the economy – providing a reason for customers to log on, shop safely while social distancing & save time and money.
