Kalonzo Faults Ngilu For Fooling Him to Endorse Raila: ‘I Don’t Know What I Signed’

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has subtly denied endorsing ODM chief Raila Odinga to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

On Saturday during a rally that preceded the Azimio la Umoja national delegates conference (NDC), the former Vice-President announced that he had shelved his presidential bid in favour of Raila.

“I would have wanted Raila to endorse me, but Kenyans have decided it is his time,” he said.

But now Kalonzo is talking out of both sides of his mouth.
Detailing why it took long for him to ink a deal with the former Prime Minister, the Wiper boss blamed the saga on Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu.

He accused Raila of bringing Ngilu to the negotiation table.

Kalonzo claimed that the county boss advised Raila not to accept change give their coalition a new name. she insisted that it remain Azimio la Umoja while Kalonzo was rooting for Azimio-One Kenya Alliance (OKA).

The Wiper chief claims Ngilu, his tribeswoman, betrayed him big time.

“Technically, if Raila had a good heart he would have said ‘Kalonzo Tosha’. But Ngilu incited him all the way through, telling him not to let go. She even forgot she is Kitui governor and moved to Raila’s camp,” he said.

Eventually, the coalition was christened Azimio-OKA.

However, Kalonzo threw another spanner in the works, saying that he does not know what he signed.\

Though he is a lawyer, Kalonzo says that he is not alive to what he signed and wants the matter revisited.

“Suna East MP Junet Mohamed was looking for proposers for Raila Odinga to become the Azimio la Umoja candidate and yet we agreed that the new outfit is Azimio-OKA. If that happened, it was not rushed as it was, all of us in OKA would have signed. Quite frankly, my secretary-general did not sign because it was not specific about Azimio,” he said.

Having said that, Kalonzo noted that he was willing to back Raila for the third time “for the sake of the country”.
