Wiper party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has urged the church leaders to continue praying the Country to overcome the COVID 19 pandemic.
Kalonzo spoke on Sunday evening when hosted newly elected Bishop of the Catholic dioceses of Kitui Very Rev. Joseph Mwongela at his residence in Karen.
Kalonzo was at hand to congratule the Bishop-Elect following his appointment by the Holy Father in Rome.
“I wish Bishop-Elect Joseph Mwongela all the success as he prepares to undertake the enormous responsibility and cardinal duty of leading God’s flock in Kitui Diocese,” he said.

Prior to his appointment, Bishop –Elect Mwongela was serving as the Vicar General of Kitui. He was first appointed as Second Vicar General on March 6, 2015 after serving as parish priest for Muthale Parish from 2008-2013, then Director of the Saint John Paul II Institute of Professional Studies and parish priest of the Boma parish (Our Lady of Africa Cathedral).
Kalonzo promised the new Bishop of his support as he undertakes the role of shepherding his flock in a County whose highest population are catholics.
“Please pray for this Country, we are experiencing alot of pandemics other than COVID 19, corruption is ruining our economy at the National and County level, please continue to be the conscience of the Nation,” Kalozno said.
Bishop-Elect Mwongela took the opportunity to brief the Wiper Leader on the progress of preparations towards his episcopal consecration and installation on 8th August 2020.
Bishop-Elect Mwongela assured the Wiper leader of his non-political approach to matters assuring him that he will always, by the grace of God seek and speak the truth to leaders when called upon to do so.
“I want to be an instrument of peace, love and unity in our County and by grace of God, I will speak and seek the truth always for the betterment of our Dioceses and County,” Bishop-elect Mwongela said.
In readiness for the big day, the Wiper Leader said the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation (KMF) will donate 100 litres of sanitizers and 25 litres of delutable hand wash liquid soap for sanitization and hand washing for congregants who will attend Bishop Mwongela’s installation ceremony.
The Wiper Leader also confirmed that he will attend the ceremony that will be held at the expansive St. Charles Lwanga grounds in Ithookwe, Kitui.
