The Ministry of Health on Tuesday, 25th January, announced 185 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 5,515 tested raising the country’s caseload to 320,584.
The cumulative number of samples tested so far stands at 3,195,460. The country’s positivity rate is at 3.4 per cent.
Of the cases, 157 are Kenyans while 28 are foreigners. Some 97 are males while 88 are females. The youngest is a two-month-old infant while the oldest is 92 years.
Some 440 patients have recovered from the disease, 331 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 109 are from various health facilities countrywide. The total number of recoveries now stands at 292,357.
Sadly, four patients succumbed to the disease, pushing the cumulative deaths to 5,562.
There are 711 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 5,563 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
At the same time, 37 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 35 of them on ventilatory support.
Another 155 patients are on supplemental oxygen and 154 of them are in the general wards. One patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Vaccination: As of 24th January 2022, a total of 11,625,788 vaccines had been administered across the country.
Of these, 6,337,679 are partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated are 5,132,195. Another 36,945 are doses administered to those between 15 to 18 years while 118,969 are booster doses.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was 61.1 per cent. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 18.8 per cent. The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
