The Ministry of Health has announced 1,974 new Covid-19 cases from 13,407 samples tested in the last 24 hours. This has raised the national tally to 215,730.
The cumulative number of samples tested so far stands at 2,218,566. The country’s positivity rate is at 14.7 per cent.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, 11th August, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the new cases, 1,902 are Kenyans while 72 are foreigners.
Some 924 are males while 1,050 are females, while the youngest is a seven-month-old infant and the oldest is 110.
Kagwe said 653 patients have recovered from the disease with 546 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 107 are from various health facilities. This brings the total number of recoveries to 199,439.
The national death toll rose to 4,241 after 30 more patients succumbed to the virus.
