The Ministry of Health has announced 32 new Covid-19 cases from the 2,893 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the country’s caseload to 255,469.
The cumulative number of samples tested so far stands at 2,858,654. The country’s positivity rate is at 1.1 per cent.
In a statement issued on Monday, 6th December, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the cases, 31 are Kenyans while one is a foreigner with 17 being males and 15 females. The youngest is a 22-year-old while the oldest is 64.
Some 18 patients have recovered from the disease, 15 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care Program while three are from various health facilities countrywide. The total number of recoveries now stands at 248,444.
No death was reported. Therefore, the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,335.
There are 212 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 837 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
At the same time, four patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), three of whom are on ventilatory support and one on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.
Another 56 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 54 of them being in the general wards. Two patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
The cases are spread in counties as follows; Nairobi 25, Embu two while Machakos, Meru, Nyeri, Trans Nzoia, and West Pokot had one case each.
