Kenya will meet Burundi in the semi-finals of the ongoing Cecafa U-23 Championship in Ethiopia.
Burundi fought from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Ethiopia in a match staged at Bahir Dar International Stadium on Friday afternoon, 23rd July.
With the draw, Burundi topped Group B with 4 maximum points this booking a place in the semis.
“It has been a very tough game and Ethiopia kept us under a lot of pressure. But I am glad we managed to get the draw and progress to the semi-finals,” Burundi’s coach Ndayizeye was quoted as saying by the Cecafa online portal.
Meanwhile, hosts Ethiopia finished second in the group with two points while Eritrea came third with one point.
The Emerging Stars was the first team to qualify for the Semi-finals after a 2-0 win over South Sudan on Wednesday, 21st July.
Goals from KCB midfielder Reagan Otieno, Benson Omala in the 51st and 62nd minutes respectively were enough for coach Stanley Okumbi’s men to progress to the semis.
Kenya ensured a 100 per cent record having won 3-0 against Djibouti in their opening match on Sunday, 18th July.
They finished top of Group C, with six maximum points.
