Kenyans on Friday morning lined up to bid farewell to former President Emilio Mwai Kibaki as the solemn procession of the late former Head of State’s funeral cortege marched through several Nairobi roads on its way to Nyayo National Stadium for Friday’s State Funeral Service.
The National State Funeral Steering Committee declared Friday, 29th April, 2022 a Public Holiday of general observance throughout the Republic of Kenya to enable every Kenyan, participate in the celebration of the life of the Third President.
Security had been beefed up at both Lee Funeral Home and the Nyayo National Stadium.

Motorists had been advised to avoid Aerodrome road, Valley Road, Uhuru Highway, and Lang’ata road due to the procession with thousands of guests expected to stream in the Nyayo Stadium for the State Funeral Service.
Most Kenyans eulogized the former president as an outstanding economist and as a man who served this country for many years with diligence, fortitude, honesty and transparency.The procession took Uhuru Highway, led by a marching band, before arriving at Nyayo Stadium for the State Funeral.
