Kenya’s COVID-19 cases hit 23,202 after 605 test positive – KBC

Kenya’s COVID-19 cases have on Tuesday hit 23,202 after 605 more cases tested positive for the virus.

The cases come from a sample pool of 4,547 samples taken for testing in the last 24 hours.

The total number of samples tested so far by the Ministry of Health stands at 322923.

Out of the 605 cases, as announced by Chief Administrative Secretary C Rashid Aman, 401 are male and 204 female with 24 registered as foreign nationals.

Six patients have died due to COVID-19 complications increasing the number of fatalities to 388.

587 patients have been discharged. 500 from the Ministries home-based care programme and 87 from various health facilities.

The countries total number of recoveries stands at 9,327.

In terms of County distribution; Nairobi 373, Kiambu 35, Migori 25, Busia 20, Narok 20, Kajiado 16, Laikipia 16, Nakuru 15, Kakamega 12, Uasin Gishu 11, Machakos 10, Mombasa 9, Samburu 8, Turkana 7, Murang’a 5, Kericho 5 and Taita Taveta 3.

The Counties of Nyeri, Kisumu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Makueni, and Kilifi recorded two cases while Siaya, Meru, Kitui, Isiolo and Bungoma have one case each.

Meanwhile, CAS Rashid Aman has urged Kenyans to be keen on protecting the environment by using proper means of disposing of face masks.

“We have advocated for the use of masks. We have noticed this measure is largely being flouted more so in markets,” he said.

“Need to take extra precaution when it comes to disposal of masks. The need to consider environmental issues while disposing of masks,” he added.
