Kenya’s Covid-19 Deaths Rise to 3,849 as Cases Hit 196,745

Kenya has recorded 847 new Covid-19 cases from 6,080 samples tested in the last 24 hours bringing the national tally to 196,745.

This brings to 2,087,582 the cumulative number of samples tested so far. The country’s positivity rate is at 13.9 per cent.

In a statement issued on Saturday, 24th July, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the new cases 820 are Kenyans while 27 are foreigners.

In terms of gender, 485 are males while 362 are females. The youngest case is a five-month-old baby and the oldest is 97.

A total of 722 patients have recovered from the disease, 567 from the Home-Based Care Program, while 155 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total number of recoveries now stands at 185,762.

Sadly, 11 more patients have succumbed to the disease bringing the fatality to 3,849.

Currently, there are 1,277 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 3,705 are under Home-Based Isolation and Care.

Some 167 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with 35 on ventilatory support, 80 on supplemental oxygen and 52 patients are under observation.

Another 366 patients are on supplementary oxygen out of which 323 are in the general wards, while 43 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
