Kenya’s Covid-19 Infections Decline as 3 More Succumb

The number of Covid-19 infections in Kenya has slightly declined after only 12 people tested positive in the last 24 hours. This brings the country’s Covid-19 caseload to 254,309.

In a press statement issued on Monday, 15th November, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the cases were detected from the 1,730 samples tested within the same period, raising the total to 2,771,792. The positivity rate stands at 0.7 per cent.

From the cases, all the 12 are Kenyans with 6 males and 6 females. The youngest case is a 10-year-old child, while the oldest is 76.

CS Kagwe said that 37 patients had recovered from the disease, 25 from the home-based care programme and 12 were discharged from various hospitals. The number of recoveries now stands at 247,682.

Some three more patients have died, raising the toll to 5,319.

Currently, there are 381 patients admitted to various health facilities across the country, while 1,027 patients are in home-based isolation and care.

Some 24 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 10 of whom are on ventilatory support and 14 on supplemental oxygen. No is under observation.

Another 113 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 112 of them in the general wards and one patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
