Kenya’s covid positivity rate now at 0.3% as 17 people test positive for virus

The government announced Saturday that covid-19 positivity rate now stands at 0.3% in the country.

This is after 17 people tested positive for the disease, from a sample size of 5,029 tested in 24 hours under review.

“From the cases, 16 are Kenyans and 1 is a foreigner. 10 are males while 7 are females. The youngest is a 9- year-old child while the oldest is 82 years.”

“Total confirmed positive cases are now 323,272 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,466,955.” The ministry of state said in its daily update on covid situation in Kenya on Saturday.

Over the said period, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe was pleased to announce that no covid-related death had been reported, and therefore, the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,647.

Meanwhile, 21 patients recovered from the disease and all of them are from Home-Based and Isolation Care. This pushes the total recoveries to 317,567 of whom 264,567 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,000 are from various health facilities countrywide.

According to the Health Ministry, a total of 19 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 121 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

“1 patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is on ventilatory support. Another 4 patients are on supplemental oxygen and all of them are in the general wards. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU),” the ministry disclosed.
