Keter’s resignation is in line with a directive by Head of Public Service ahead of the polls.

I have today tendered my resignation to President Uhuru Kenyatta and complied with a circular from the Head of Civil Service requiring all State Officers to vacate their offices before Tuesday,” he said.

He thanked the President for according him an opportunity to serve Kenyans since 2015. He reiterated his appreciation to the President for the honour bestowed on him.

Keter has served in the Energy and Petroleum docket from 2018 and was later re-appointed as Devolution CS after a Cabinet reshuffle in September.

All Civil servants and non exempted public servants seeking to join active politics have until Tuesday 8th to resign pursuant to a directive by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
