Hollywood star Kevin Hart has reportedly said he was diagnosed with Covid-19 earlier this year. The Jumanji actor, 41, was appearing at a comedy show in Yellow Springs, Ohio for Dave Chappelle’s An Intimate Socially Distanced Affair when he made the revelation, according to Page Six.

At the event this past weekend, Kevin said: “The problem is that I had it around the same time as Tom Hanks, and I couldn’t say anything because he’s more famous than I am.” Oscar-winner Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson tested positive for the coronavirus while in Australia on March 11.

This occurred mere months after Kevin was injured in a car crash in California on September 1, 2019. According to Page Six, Dave Chapelle spent Chappelle has spent $100,000 on “coronavirus rapid testing” for those who attended the outdoor shows he put on this summer.

Other comics who put in appearances at his shows include Michelle Wolf, Questlove, Donnell Rawlings, Tobe Nwigwe, and Bill Burr. Kevin Hart’s diagnosis with Covid-19 comes less than a year after he was hospitalised for 10 days when he was a passenger in a car that crashed into a tree last year.

Speaking about the experience in May this year, Kevin said that he downplayed the severity of his injuries at the time. Speaking on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, he said: “I lied in the hospital because I didn’t want them to know that I was having pain, because I thought that they were gonna stop me from letting me continue to try my walks.

“It was like day seven in the hospital, I had the walker, and it was slow walks but I was dragging. It was upper body, and I was masking it as if I was… feet, because I didn’t want to stop trying.” He ultimately had to have three areas of his spine fused together in emergency surgery followed by weeks of rehabilitative treatment.
