Kiambu Gubernatorial contest takes shape as aspirant nominate running mates

Kiambu County is set for a gubernatorial contest like no other after almost all aspirants unveiled their running mates for the August election.

Governor James Nyoro nominated Dr. June Njambi Waweru as his running mate as he seeks to defend his seat in the August 9th Election.

Nyoro said June Waweru has extensive experience in the medical sector as well as working closely with the youth in community service.

“In this choice, we have achieved inclusivity and regional balance by ensuring Kiambu East and West are now well represented,” Nyoro said.

Nyoro said the decision was arrived at after extensive consultations with Kiambu professionals saying together they will steer the county to greater heights.

Former Governor William Kabogo who is seeking to recapture his seat on a Tujibebe party ticket has settled on Esther Ndirangu as his running mate.

Kabogo described Ms Ndirangu who was the Education County Executive Committee Member during Kabogo tenure as a professional saying together they can work towards regaining the glory of the Kiambu County.

Kabogo described his Running Mate as an experienced International Specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the education sector, who is also pursuing a Ph.D. focused in Educational Research and Evaluation from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

At the Same time, Thika MP Patrick Wainaina alias Jungle has picked Former Kiambu women Rep Hannah Nyokabi Gatheca as his running mate.

Wainaina who lost in the UDA Party primaries is contesting as an independent candidate.

Chama Cha Kazi aspirant Moses Kuria has also unveiled Faith Mwaura as his running mate. Kuria Ms Mwaura has extensive knowledge on a variety of issues and will bring significant knowledge in running the County.

Details on whether UDA Candidate Kimani Wamatangi has nominated his running mate remain unclear.

Mwende Gatabaki has also nominated David Wanjohi who is former director of Safina party.
