Jubilee Party has ousted Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi as its Senate Majority Chief Whip.

The move comes just days after he decamped to DP William Ruto’s led party United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

In a letter dated 16th March, Jubilee Secretary Jeremiah Kioni stated that the National Management Committee resolved to remove the senator from senate leadership following his public declaration to join the UDA party.

“The NMC made the following resolutions among others at the said meeting,

“That Senator Paul Kimani Wamatangi be deemed to have resigned from the membership of Jubilee Party in accordance with Article five of the Party Constitution.

“That Senator Paul Kimani Wamatangi immediately ceases to hold the office of Majority Chief Whip in the Senate,” read the resolutions of the meeting by Jubilee officials.

The senator also ceased to hold any leadership position in any committee of the Senate that he currently holds by virtue of being a member of the Jubilee Party.

In the event that Wamatangi does not agree with the party’s decision, Kioni stated that Wamatangi should submit formal objections to the party through the secretary-general by 17th March.

Wamatangi has justified his decision to join the UDA party saying that the party was the most popular in his home county.

“I don’t have a problem with Jubilee, the people of Kiambu told me to move to UDA,” Wamatangi said during an interview with Citizen TV on Thursday morning, 17th March.

Wamatangi is seeking the UDA’s party ticket in his bid for the Kiambu governor seat.
