Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are now after business magnate Jimmy Wanjigi and his wife Irene Nzisa.

The DCI preferred charges to the duo for reportedly obtaining money by pretext and conspiracy to defraud a company Ksh1.2 billion in a land deal.

In the inquiry file by DCI forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), the Wanjigis colluded with John Nyanjua Njenga, Mohammed Hassanali, Kaneez Noorani, Hamanshu Dodhia, Mohammed Hussein, and Caroline Njoki to obtain Ksh56 million from Kenroid Limited, a real estate company.

Wanjigi and the allies shammed that they were the owners of a 0.3314-hectare piece of land located along General Mathenge road and they were free to sell the land to the company.

Additionally, the DCI recommended the apprehension of Registrar of Titles, Fredrick Lubulellah to answer four charges of altering land documents in favor of Wanjigis in 2018.

Investigations are now ongoing to establish the real owner of the land, Grant I.R No.65800 L.R No.1870/II/200, which is claimed by three entities; Aureum Ltd owned by the Wanjigis, businesswoman Cissy Kalunde Musembi and Horizon Hills Limited.

“Three Grants were issued and registered against one parcel of land contrary to the relevant land registration Acts and laws, which dictate that registration of one parcel of land, shall be one Title deed against one person or entity,” the DCI report stated.

The DCI stated that Wanjigi had appointed two agents from their Horizon Hills Limited and were to sell the land for Ksh154 million.

Kenroid Limited owned by Yogesh Patel registered its concerns that the land could be a public utility or among land flagged by the 2006 Ndung’u Land Report, which grouped the land as one of the several grabbed parcels in Kenya.
