Lindah Oguttu will not grace your screens from now. This is after she announced a six-month break from KTN.

The telecaster, who was appointed to lead the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) secretariat by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed, stated in a tweet that she will use the short leave to work with FKF as it looks forward to improving sports conditions in the country.

“I have taken a sabbatical leave from the Standard Group Limited to serve in the FKF Secretariat. Tukutane kwa futa. And mask up and get vaccinated… Hii Covid haitaki mchezo.” She tweeted.

Lindah was appointed to head the Secretariat for six months before FKF conduct elections for its new President after Nick Mwendwa was forced out of office for allegedly misappropriating funds amounting to Ksh38 million meant to elevate the functions of FKF such as paying athletes their allowances.

The journalist will lead the committee comprised of former Director of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission Aaron Ringera, General (Retired) Moses Oyugi, Fatma Adan, Philip Musyimi, Anthony Isayi, Elisha Kiplagat and Hassan Haji, Fredrick Tureisa, Mwangi Muthee, Neddy Atieno, Ali Amour, Titus Kasuve, Richard Omwela, Bobby Ogolla, and JJ Masiga.

The move by CS Amina was contravening one of the FIFA statutes which state that FKF, a football body under FIFA, was bound to solve its problems independently without the influence of other parties. FIFA then threatened to issue a ban on Kenyan football.

“We would like to address our concern with respect to the announcement by the Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Sports of Kenya Amb Amina Mohammed,”

“As a matter of fact, we deem fit to highlight that all FIFA member associations, including the FKF, are statutorily required to manage their affairs independently and without the influence of any third parties,” FIFA said in a statement.
